NAIROBI EXCURSIONS

 

Nairobi City, Kenya

 

Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The name "Nairobi" comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nyirobi, which translates to "the place of cool waters". However, it is popularly known as the "Green City in the Sun."

Founded in 1899, the city was handed capital status from Mombasa in 1905. Nairobi is also the capital of the Nairobi Province and of the Nairobi District. The city lies on the Nairobi River, in the south of the nation, and has an elevation of 1661 m (5450 ft) above sea-level.

 

Nairobi is currently the 4th largest city in Africa prominent politically and financially.

 

Nairobi City Tour - 2 hrs

A guided tour of the city of Nairobi will include the city market and its surrounding bazaars, the parliament buildings, Kenyatta conference center, the railways museum and the Nairobi University. The tour ends with a visit to the snake park and National Meuseum.

 

Nairobi National Park - 4 hrs

There was a time not so long ago, when lions roamed the streets of Nairobi.Today they can be found only 14 kilometres from the city center in Nairobi National Park. This small park contains most of the animals to be seen on more extended safaris such as the rhino, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and plenty of antelopes and gazelles.

 

Bomas of Kenya - 3 hrs

Enjoy colorful performances by dancers from different tribes. Visit the recreated African villages which potray Kenya's lifestyle.

 

The Carnivore Experience- 2 hrs

The Carnivore Restaurant is famous for the meals it serves. It is rated amongst the 50 best restaurants in the world, and a meal here is considered “Africa’s greatest Eating Experience”. Carnivore has a wide variety of barbeques and includes a wide range of wild game meat.

 

Karen Blixen Museum & Giraffe Centre - 4 hrs

Karen Blixen's home lies on the foot of Ngong hills, is now preserved as a museum. Furniture, artefacts and photographs from her days as a pioneer coffee farmer. Afterwards, continue to the giraffe center nearby where families of the rare Rothschild giraffe can be hand fed and photographed from a platform at giraffe's eye level.

 

Day Trip to Lake Nakuru

We drive to the floor of the Rift Valley from Nairobi while stopping on the way to admire and marvel the breathtaking views of the escarpment along the way. We arrive at the Lake Nakuru National Park in time for a mid-morning game drive. Lunch is at the Lake Nakuru Lodge. On the way out of the park and back to Nairobi, we have another short game drive.

 

Aberdare National Park (The Ark) - 1 night

: Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through central Kenya to Aberdare Country Club arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon transfer to the Ark with game drives en route at the Salient. Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, this unique game lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife - elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive bongo or giant forest hog. Evening/overnight floodlit game viewing.

The Utamaduni "veranda" Restaurant is burstling with bird life, blossoms and bountiful hearty meals, the Veranda offers a variety of tempting salads, homemade pasta ,pizza, sandwiches, luscious desserts and the famous Zanzibar soup.
