Tour Details

Machame route is the most prominent route, because of its different habitats. The Whiskey name is a reflection of a complex climb. The climbers will encounter too steeper trails. The distances between the huts are long and the only mode of accommodation is through the tents. Our 8-day Tanzania safaris tours travel through the Machame route. The following is a day-to-day itinerary for the 7 days Machame climb on Mount Kilimanjaro. It will guide you from the day of arrival to Moshi until your day of departure. When you have only 7day to climb to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro Machame route is the best due to its acclimatization profile.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive at Moshi

Upon arrival to Moshi, you will be pick from the Kilimanjaro international airport and taken to the Kilimanjaro resort. There, a representative will meet you for a quick check up and short briefing. You will spend the rest of the day preparing and resting before the Mount Kilimanjaro trek up. You will be offered meals and accommodation before you retire to bed. You will need a lot of energy, so you should have enough rest before the big days ahead.

Day 2Machame camp 4- 6 hours

An early start with a drive from the hotel to Machame camp, all journey will take up to 4-6 hours. You will trek through the rain forest. On your way to Machame camp, you will enjoy the dark and green forest. You will also encounter some of the harmless creature grazings or moving up and down. Lunch will serve on the way. At noon you will you arrive at the Machame camp where you will take your and dinner. You will spend the remaining day at the camp resting and viewing surrounded by fascinating trees.

Day 3To Shira camp 4-5 hours

It is a new day, after the morning breakfast you will proceed with your journey to Shira camp. You will leave behind the glade of the rain forest and pass through a steep rocky ridge covered with the heather until you reach the end of the ridge. The journey will take up to 4-5 hours before reaching Shira camp. Lunch will be served at a designated area before proceeding. At the camp, you will enjoy your dinner and rest for the next journey.

Day 4Barranaco via Lava tower- 4-6 hours

This morning after breakfast, you will continue with the journey to Barranco. The journey will take 4-6 hours. On your way, you will pass through the Shira plateau, needles and the Shira Cathedral. From there you will trek to the lava tower, which is well known as the shark’s tooth. Briefly, after the tower, you will arrive at the arrow glacier junction on your way to Barranco camp. You will have dinner and overnight stay at the Barranco hut campsite.

Day 5To Barafu camp via Karanga valley 7-8 hours

After your breakfast, you will leave Barranco early in the morning and head to Barafu Camp. The distance between Barranco and Barafu is a bit long so you will trek for 7-8 hours before reaching there. You will pass through Karanga valley; there you will stop for lunch and refreshment. Then you will proceed to Barafu hut campsite. At Barafu, you will be able to see clearly the two great peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. You will have your dinner and overnight say at the campsite. The place is amazing.

Day 6To summit and Mweka camp 7-8 hours

After an overnight stay at Barafu, the journey will begin again after breakfast. You will pass through Uhuru peak o your way to the summit. All journey will take up to 7-8 hours. You will have to travel with a packed lunch and refreshment because there is no resting place. The climbing process will take nearly 8 hours. If you are not afraid of heights, you will climb to the top, as you know that Mount Kilimanjaro is the Highest Mountain in Africa (5895m). From the summit, you will head back to Barafu on your way to Mweka hut campsite. You guide will take all the registration details before entering the hut. Also at the gate, those who reached the peak of the mountain will be awarded green certificates while the Uhuru peak champions are issued with gold certificates. You will have dinner and overnight rest.

Day 7 To Moshi

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will proceed to Mweka village, you will be served with hot lunch at Mweka village. You will then proceed back to Moshi to freshen up and celebrate the tour. There, you will spend your day preparing for departure.

Day 8Depart Moshi

After delicious morning breakfast, you will transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport to catch a flight home.
